This was a week-long, very hands-on and inquiry-based day camp with the purpose of training teachers about groundwater and drinking water protection (also known as wellhead protection). Teachers were given background in hydrogeology and glacial geology to better understand the concept of groundwater and aquifers. Teachers took a field trip to Lake Michigan, saw a water well drilled with state-of-the-art technology, and learned how to use Groundwater Model Simulators to take back to their classrooms. The City of Battle Creek’s drinking water supply and the City’s Wellhead Protection Plan were used as real life examples. Day 3 Schedule
