2008 Global Citizens' River Conservation Day
Saturday, October 4, 2008 was the date for the 2008 Global Citizens’ River Conservation Day, which has grown into the first ever watershed-wide citizen cleanup of the Kalamazoo River and its tributaries. Growing out of the successful cleanup program conducted in the Battle Creek and Marshall areas the last few years, it is part of an international cleanup event stemming from the city of Battle Creek’s sister city relationship.
2008 Kanoe the Kazoo on Hart’s Lake
On August 9, 2008, the Calhoun Conservation District and the Battle Creek Clean Water Partners hosted a Kanoe the Kazoo canoeing event on Hart’s Lake. Please call the Calhoun Conservation District, 269-781-4867 for information. The first 50 to register were not charged a three dollar fee.
2008 Children's Water Festival

The Battle Creek area's 2008 Children's Water Festival was held on Friday, May 9, 2008. This was a free, educational event for fourth and fifth grade students and their teachers.

While fertilizers may be necessary for a healthy lawn, over-application of fertilizers wastes money, ruins plants, and pollutes water. Don’t guess, soil test. Calhoun County locations: Albion – Jolly Green Junction; Battle Creek Area - Battle Creek Farm Bureau - Battle Creek Store, Lakeview Hardware, Level Park Hardware, Lowe’s, Scooters Hardware, and Springfield’s Do-It Center; Marshall – Darling’s Hardware.
